The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires that all Letting Agents prominently display a comprehensive list of all fees, charges or penalties which are payable to the Agent by a landlord or tenant at any time before, during or after a tenancy.
The list must be displayed at any premises where the Agent comes face-to-face with an existing or potential customer. The Agent must also publish a list of fees on their website (if applicable).
Landlords will be required by law to install working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in their properties, under measures announced by Housing Minister Brandon Lewis.
The move will help prevent up to 26 deaths and 670 injuries a year.
The measure will take effect from October 2015, and comes with strong support after a consultation on property condition in the private rented sector.
